Iconic actor William Shatner is being honored in Uppercase
Gallery’s “The Shatner Show,” which is exhibiting rooms of art inspired by him.
Located in Calgary, Alberta, the show runs June 15 to August 31, 2007 and
features hundreds of creative works about, relating to, or featuring Shatner. A
self-depreciating, tongue-in-cheek man who embraces his contradictions and
wildly successful career with vigor, Shatner has made an undeniable world-wide
impression on pop culture. Who can forget the characters he’s played, such as
Captain Kirk, TJ Hooker and most recently, Denny Crane. How about his classic 1978 Sci-Fi/Fantasy awards show spoken-word version of “Rocket Man?” Or his tendency to be himself, warts and all? That alone takes gigantic cajones, imho.
I say this tribute was a long time coming…long live William Shatner!
